Sanitation and Upcoming Clinics
Since 2006, Project Adopt A Village (PAAV) has worked to improve access to clean water and sanitation in Sendafa Beke, Ethiopia. Despite progress, poor sanitation remains a serious public health challenge in the community.
Five pallets of donated cataract surgical and diagnostic equipment are still in route on a ship to Djibouti and likely won’t arrive in Sendafa in time for the July medical camp. However, a special cataract surgery event will be scheduled at the Sendafa Health Center this fall. As PAAV owns the equipment, we’ll have more flexibility to offer this sight restoring procedure more than once a year. This will be a tremendous benefit to the community.
From July 11–21, 32 people will go to Sendafa Beke on a mission trip organized by Living Word Community Church. Half the team will treat patients at the Sendafa Health Center; the rest will teach ESL in the school, make home visits, and do minor home improvements. There will also be leadership training for local pastors. The results of this outreach will be shared in the August newsletter.
